Parmentier Arthur is pleased to announce the appointment of Mike Reade as a Managing Director.

Mike brings with him over two decades of experience in advising private equity investors, portfolio companies, and owner-managed businesses on a wide range of UK tax matters. Most recently, he was a Partner at EY, where he spent 14 years helping to build and lead their market-leading Management Tax and Transactions practice. Prior to EY, Mike trained and qualified as a Chartered Tax Adviser at KPMG, where he began his career as a private client tax adviser.

Throughout his 20-year career in the Big Four, Mike has advised clients on hundreds of transactions, developing deep expertise in the commercial, tax, and valuation considerations that arise in connection with equity-based incentive arrangements and the wider deal lifecycle. His extensive background in share-related tax matters and his commercial insight will bring significant value to Parmentier Arthur’s clients, particularly in identifying and understanding the potential issues that may arise in the context of tax valuations.

At Parmentier Arthur, Mike’s role will focus exclusively on share valuations of private companies for UK tax purposes. While he brings a strong tax background, Parmentier Arthur will continue to focus on valuation aspects and work in close collaboration with clients’ existing tax advisers to ensure seamless and comprehensive valuation support.

Commenting on the appointment, Stuart Gilham, Managing Director at Parmentier Arthur, said:
“I’m delighted to welcome Mike to the team and to be working once again alongside him and Rod, continuing the strong partnership we built at EY. Mike’s experience advising on complex transactions, coupled with his ability to bridge commercial realities with tax valuation requirements, will be a valuable asset to our clients. His appointment underscores our commitment to delivering rigorous, commercially informed valuations that help clients meet their tax obligations with confidence.”

Mike Reade added:
“I’m excited to join Parmentier Arthur and to focus on an area that’s become increasingly critical to clients — robust, defensible share valuations for tax purposes. Having advised clients on the implementation of equity incentives and transactions for many years, I look forward to applying that experience to help clients and their advisers anticipate and address potential issues early in the valuation process.”
